NEIGHBORHOOD FOOD SWAP
Since the inception of the COVID-19 pandemic, our communities have been devastated by the economic impact of necessary stay-at-home orders. According to some reports, more than 36 million people filed for unemployment benefits during this time. Meanwhile, local restaurants are suffering and families are struggling to put food on the table. We've spoken with families who have suffered devastating loss due to Coronavirus, including the passing of family members and loss of jobs.
During this difficult time when our neighbors and local restaurants are struggling, we appreciate any amount you can offer to help. We have identified restaurants who have volunteered to deliver meals directly to our neighbors. We need your support to make this happen!
Restaurant Partners: Who We Are
CONTRIBUTE MEALS
We have partnered with restaurants who have offered to deliver meals themselves to our neighbors. But they can't supply these meals on their own! We ask that you donate directly to the restaurants listed below to support these efforts, and we will coordinate to make sure they get to the families who need them. $10 dollars can feed a single person.
For those families living in Corona Queens, we have partnered with Sabor Peruano, a delicious Peruvian restaurant in the neighborhood. You can donate by sending funds on Zelle to garciac735@gmail.com Make sure to write "food swap" in the comments.
Donate directly to SMAC's Neighborhood Food Swap by purchasing a gift card and emailing it to catering@eatsmac.com or by donating on venmo to @sarita-ekya. Make sure to write "neighborhood food swap" in the comments.
For those families living far from our restaurant partners, we want to make sure that they can get food as well. If you donate through go fund me, we will use that money to order meals via seamless, or if available at the restaurant, over the phone, to be delivered instantly to families who live outside of the area of our restaurant partners. We will also use these funds to supplement our restaurant partners to deliver food to families.
